We started off by filming our short media film for our media practical. This short film was about a young girl being stalked and she had suspicions that she was being followed. The camera shots we included in the film was long shot, close up, over the shoulder shot, low angle shot and a pan with a point of view shot. We didn't get to include all the shot as firstly we didn't have much time and secondly for the certain shots we didn't have the equipment such as tracking shot and crane shot. We didn't get to include extreme close up, rolling shot, tilt and high angle due to the amount of time.
We used a low angle on the stalker as it showed a powerful character, and its also created a intimidating image of the character. It also created a tensed atmosphere. In the shot the stalker slowly walked in and went back again this was there to show the villain in action and that something foreboding will happen. We did a close up on the girls face to show that she suspects something wrong and also a bit confused. This created more tension as she feels danger surrounding her and the audience knows this as well. We used the POV and over the shoulder shot to show whats ahead of her to the audience and we used it to show the characters perspectives. POV was not successful as we couldn't get everything in and it didn't come out the way we wanted it to. Over the shoulder was successful as we got it the way we wanted and it came out perfectly. However most of the shots were not successful such as the pan as most of the scenery in the pan was cut off, so next time we must make sure that the full scenery is shown on the camera. Long shot could have been presented better as i dont think it was up to standard, the scenery could have been involved more. I think close up could have been more focused and clearer to show the full face. Low angle was one of our most successful shot as it was clear and it showed the villain in a very powerful position.
The close up shot wasn't as steady as it should have been also the long shot could have been improved more as the angle wasn't very correct and camera wasn't so steady. The pan was not framed appropriately. Which needs to be improved next time.
We need to make a lot of improvement on how to plan our film successfully, thinking about each shot carefully and how and where it will be best to film them, such as the pan would be better if we didn't have a restricted area. We need to make sure we include all the shots and making sure we know we are keeping the camera steady and the shot is coming out steady and clear. We also need to keep a eye out for the timing and that we are organized and prepared. The good things we managed to do is a good shot of the low angle, in my opinion was one of our best shot. We also managed to get in the other shots even though it wasn't perfect but we got a learning experience from it. It was a good camera exercise and it prepares us for the next task as we will try and improve our mistakes and make the video much more clean and improved.
