Title Sequences

Title Sequences have a certain order that can sometimes vary.
   
      These are as follows: 

• Production Company such as Paramount, Warner Brothers
• Production Company Presents...
• A film directed by..
• Main stars 
• Title
• Other main stars
• Other titles such as sound, editing, makeup etc.

 Many films follow that order however some can differ, examples of title sequences are as follows:

1) 'Se7en'
This film is thriller and it starts off with a book, and pages being flipped. The use of colour is dark and so adds suspense also by the eerie music being played.
It starts off introducing the production company which was the 'new line cinema' however it didn't show it's ident. It then shows the production 'Arnold Kopelson', the font has a very paranoia feel to it. The effect of the font is very disturbing and unsettling, also very fuzzy so adds the effect of creepiness. The images at the back creates a very cringe feel to it, its unsettling and hints what kind of film it'll be. Its very ominous. It then shows the main actors so Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman. It then shows the title, which fuzzes again, giving a starling feeling. Frightful but at the same time intrigues you to watch it. Other actors names are shown, after the other title names are shown, such as who the music is by etc. Producers are then shows, as the title sequence goes on the images at the back become even more gory, e.g. a needle shown coming out of a crusty finger, that can be quite sickening for some people. Lastly the directors name is shown again for the final time. Ending the sequence in darkness...                                                                                                                  

Shutter Island:
The production company is paramount. It starts of in a very daunting way, introducing the director. The font is red and flickers constantly creating an sinister effect. The image at the back is very dark showing a cell, it already, manages to captivate and fright the audience. It then introduces the production, the background is spiral stairs that whirls in, this creates a very eerie feeling. As it swirls in, it turns to darkness. Creating a thrilling feeling. Then introduces the screenplay, then the main actors are introduced such as Leonardo DiCaprio, the images at the back are of jails and guns which kind of hints the setting of the film. It then adds the other titles such as who the music is by. The screen then flickers, adding suspense and tension. Finally the title is shown of the film, and it zooms in, the font is block red capital, so very eye catching.

Buried:
This thriller starts off with creepy music which would put the audience at an  unease. It starts off by introducing the 'the versus entertainment production'. It then goes on two show the studios that was associated with the film which was the 'The Safran Company' and 'Dark Trick'. The directors name is then introduced 'A Rodrigo Cortes Film'. The eerie music still continues as the names are being introduced, increase the tension. It then introduces the main actor which was Ryan Reynolds. After that the title is shown 'Buried' in bold letters, its very eye catching. Also the the music comes to an loud bass when the title comes out. The use of the style and font used on the title awares the audience this film will be very daunting as the font shows an burnt effect and scratches maybe to symbolises the injuries and violence which is present in the film. The colour of the font used is different shades of orange, some parts very dark and misty and some very light, almost like fire.  The title slowly then fades, and the music gets lighter, more suspense is filled... The other titles such as sound and makeup are introduced, in a very interesting way. Maze like format, where slowly all the other titles are revealed. This is very effective as it would interest the audience more rather than just introduce names in a random way. It is not boring rather more creative and different from other titles. Then the other producers are introduced such as the 'executive producers' and then the main. Once again the titles finishes with the directors name which was Rodrigo Cortes. Lastly the eerie music fades off...



North by Northwest: 
This thriller title sequence starts off with the ident which is MGM (Metro Goldwyn Mayer). The music starts off, very fast paced. Almost like an adrenaline rush. As the music goes on the main characters are introduced which are Cary Grant, Eva Marie Smith and James Mason. Then the director of the film which is Alfred Hitchcock, in very big bold writing, so it catches the audience eyes. Then the title of the film is shown, it then goes on to show the other titles and co-stars.  The title sequence which is very innovative  as the use an cartoon geometric background and the used an match on action, to dissolve it and show the real fence of which cars are passing by. It then goes on to show the area of the film where it is placed and that its very busy as it is packed with people. The music increases which is foreshadowing. Lastly ends again with the director, Hitchcock.
